April | Happening In Motorsports (NASCAR)

Posted by Dallas Johannes on Mar 31st 2023

As we enter April, motorsports in 2023 is alive and well. Every few months we would like to give you all a glimpse into the world of motorsports that many of us around the office love. This month’s featured motorsport is NASCAR.

NASCAR Cup Series and Xfinity Series are headed to Richmond Raceway in Virginia and the Craftsman Truck Series is headed to Texas Motor Speedway. In the Cup Series, Alex Bowman is leading the championship despite not having any race or stage wins. Consistency has been key for Bowman over the first 6 races of the season having racked up 3 top 5s and 5 top 10s. William Byron is leading both the race win and stage win categories with 2 and 4 wins respectively. Kyle Busch, Joey Logano, Tyler Reddick, and Ricky Stenhouse JR have all won races this season so far with Tyler Reddick winning last weekend’s race at Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas.

In the NASCAR Xfinity Series, Austin Hill leads the championship after 6 races. Hill has won 3 of the 6 races to start the season (Daytona, Las Vegas, Atlanta) and has only finished outside the top 10 once as a result of a DNF in the last race at Circuit of the Americas. The other race winners in Xfinity series this year are John Hunter Nemechek (Auto Club Speedway), AJ Allmendinger (Circuit of the Americas), and 18 year old Sammy Smith (Phoenix Raceway).

Currently NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, Zane Smith leads the championship after 4 races. Smith has won 2 of the 4 races this season (Daytona, Circuit of the Americas). Christian Eckes (Atlanta) and Kyle Busch (Las Vegas) are the other 2 race winners this year.

As NASCAR, IndyCar, Formula 1, and more take to the track this weekend, us around the office will be watching in excitement as the motorsport circus travels the globe once again. If we aren’t watching this weekend, some of us are returning to our local tracks to support or participate in a variety grassroots motorsports after the winter break. Whether it is on 2 wheels or 4 wheels, powered by gas, diesel, or electricity, in a straight line, on an oval, or winding a circuit, we at First Place Auto Parts love motorsport and we hope you do as well.
