Greetings from the First Place Auto Parts team, reporting live from the 2022 SEMA show! Amidst the sea of stunning automobiles, one vehicle stands out—the brainchild of Jeff and Tim, showcased at the ARMO booth. We had the privilege of speaking with both the builder and the owner to gain insight into their remarkable creation. Join us as we delve into the genesis, design, and details of this awe-inspiring roadster.

The Genesis of the Build:

For Jeff, a self-proclaimed Chevy enthusiast, the idea of constructing a roadster sparked an exciting journey. After owning several cars built by Tim, Jeff expressed his desire to venture into the realm of roadsters. However, the quest for the perfect roadster wasn't without its challenges. Unbeknownst to Jeff, Chevrolet's roadster offerings were scarce. Nevertheless, after a two-year search, fate led him to a 1978 Pinto nestled in a garage in Connecticut—a diamond in the rough awaiting transformation.

Crafting a Masterpiece:

The metamorphosis from a modest Pinto to a show-stopping roadster was no overnight feat. With Eric Black's visionary rendering as their guiding light, Jeff and Tim embarked on an eight-year journey of meticulous craftsmanship. Beneath its visually captivating exterior lies a custom chassis engineered by the Roadster Shop. Concealed within the sleek lines of the roadster are a myriad of innovative features, including a cantilever suspension system and inboard-mounted shocks—a testament to both form and function.

Power and Performance:

Under the hood lies a formidable LS-based powertrain, expertly crafted by Keith Thornton of Automotive Specialists. With a Dart block, LS Next heads, and an eight-stack fuel injection system designed by Alan Johnson, this roadster boasts 650 horsepower ready to be unleashed at a moment's notice. Paired with Wilwood disc brakes and wide tires, it's a harmonious blend of power and precision, ensuring an exhilarating driving experience.

The Allure of Bro Blue:

In the realm of aesthetics, the roadster's captivating hue, affectionately dubbed "bro blue," steals the spotlight. A chance inclusion in Eric's rendering, this vibrant shade became an instant favorite. Jeff's decision to embrace bro blue as the car's official color speaks to the intuitive harmony between vision and execution—a choice that epitomizes the roadster's timeless allure.

Unveiling the Unseen:

Beyond its pristine facade lies a treasure trove of hidden intricacies—a testament to Jeff and Tim's unwavering attention to detail. From meticulously engineered suspension components to carefully concealed wiring, every aspect of the roadster is a testament to their craftsmanship and ingenuity. As Jeff aptly puts it, "What you don't see is exactly what makes it so trick."

A Showstopper in Every Sense:
While the roadster currently holds court as a showpiece, Jeff's eagerness to unleash its full potential on the open road is palpable. Designed to be both drivable and streetable, it's a testament to the roadster's versatility and performance prowess. With a nod to its traditional hot rod roots and a dash of modern innovation, this roadster is a true embodiment of automotive excellence.

Closing Thoughts:
As we bid farewell to Jeff, Tim, and their awe-inspiring roadster, we're left with a profound appreciation for their dedication, creativity, and craftsmanship. From concept to completion, their collaboration has yielded a masterpiece that captivates the imagination and ignites a passion for automotive innovation. Until next time, remember to keep the hammer down and keep it between the guardrails—because the journey is just as exhilarating as the destination.
